Though the star is still suffering from the loss of her mother, brother and nephew, Oscar winning actress and American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson is finally planning on returning to the stage for a pre-Grammy performance at the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala, a charity event in February. Though the singer and actress was planning on returning months earlier for a video shoot scheduled in advance, Hudson reportedly told her label that she needed more time. As the singer, who is nominated for four Grammy Awards, emerges as one of the hottest R&B acts this year, fans are staying true to the artist as she deals with this tragedy with their own Jennifer Hudson tickets.

As prosecutors fight against the case regarding Hudson’’s brother-in-law, the Dreamgirls Oscar winner is marking her first public appearance to honor Neil Diamond for the February 6th gala, just two days before the Recording Academy’’s show. The event will also feature Coldplay, the Foo Fighters, Adele, Tim McGraw, Josh Groban and Raul Malo and will have the all-star cast singing Diamond classics at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Hollywood and Chicago communities are rallying around the Windy City native, who grew up in the house where her mother and brother were gunned down by Hudson’’s ex brother in law, William Balfour, who was officially charged with the murders December 2nd. During press conferences after the official homicide charges, Chicago police applauded the community for “stepping up to the plate and helping the police solve this case,” Chicago Police Deputy Superintendent Steve Peterson told reporters. The Hudson family was extremely cooperative, according to Peterson, and was “relieved and happy that the Chicago police and firemen were able to bring this case to a successful conclusion.”

Though the Hudson family has revealed little as to the ongoing circumstances of the case and their reactions to the situations, Hudson released a statement via her record label, saying “It’’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I”m extremely honored and humbled by the nominations.” The former American Idol star is up for Best R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song for “Spotlight” and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group for “I”m His Only Woman” with Fantasia. Hudson’’s self titled debut appeared in September 2008 and saw success when her debut single “Spotlight” reached the number one spot on Billboard’’s Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks while also making the Pop 100, The Billboard Hot 100 and the Rhythmic Top 40 charts.

Hudson was born in 1981 in Chicago, IL and began performing with her church choir. Before long she was singing in local musicals and earned a job with Disney Wonder cruises and finally earned a role on American Idol in 2004. After getting eliminated halfway through the top 12 finalists, Hudson earned the part of Effie in Dreamgirls and eventually went on to win the Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the Broadway play turned film. She has since gone on to star in several more films, including Sex and the City: The Movie and The Secret Life of Bees, and plans on signing more in the future.
